New Enterprise Associates adds Ron Bernal as venture partner

Biopharma company Genticel receives €13.1m to treat cervical cancer

Emerging markets private equity slows in line with global slump
09 Mar 2010. Source: AltAssets. Fundraising for emerging markets-dedicated private equity funds slowed in 2009, though investment activity was comparatively strong. Emerging markets captured nine per cent of global private equity fundraising and 26 per cent of global private equity investment, with deal activity by transaction volume down by only 11 per cent, according to new research from the Emerging Markets Private Equity Association.

TransMedics raises $36m for organ transplant system

US solar company Solar Junction has raised $13.3m in a series C round of funding from existing investors Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Advanced Technology Ventures and New Enterprise Associates, according to reports.
US-based wind service provider UpWind Solutions has raised $28.8m in a second round of funding led by Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers (KPCB), who was joined by return backer MissionPoint Capital Partners.
Aurora Biofuels has secured an additional $15m in a recent funding round led by Oak Investment Partners, with the continued support of Gabriel Venture Partners and Noventi Ventures, bringing the total amount of money raised by the company to more than $40m.
Nordic venture capital firm Northzone Ventures, along with software- and IT-focused private equity firm JMI Equity and Goldman Sachs, has exited its investment in could computing company Nimsoft via a $350m strategic sale.
